New Transparency Rules

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) has announced new Transparency Rules designed to make it easier for you to instruct a barrister and understand the process, fees, timescales, and how to complain when things go wrong.

The Bar Standards Board is the Bar’s regulator and regulates all of my work as a barrister.

Testimonials

Anthony Dallison | Director | Fern Marketing Limited

My company recently had the privilege of being represented by Dirk van Heck. He showed a great ability to cut through the issues and focus exclusively on the facts. Calm and eloquent, he quickly exposed the inconsistencies and smoke screens put up by the defence and resoundingly won us the day. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dirk as an excellent commercial barrister and advocate.

Dirk acted for me on a complicated trust of land case and successfully won the case for me due to his in-depth knowledge and professional capability. He is also extremely personable and totally dedicated to his work.

Oliver Burbage-Hall | former police officer

Having to deal with lawyers can often be a daunting prospect but I was certainly very fortunate in being referred to Dirk. From the earliest days of my case he approached the issues with his sharp, non-judgmental mind and treated me courteously throughout, with prompt, clear responses to my correspondence. At the end of a difficult case I was denied a ‘win’ in the classical sense but walked away satisfied that I had nonetheless achieved much of what I set out to do through legal recourse. Dirk’s professionalism, humour and commitment played a significant role in that process and his willingness to treat me as a mature, intelligent human being and accept my input on the case went a long way to helping me walk away with my head held high.

Dear Dirk, I just want to thank you for your assistance in our recent employment tribunal. We were all grateful for your professional yet charming manner throughout the proceedings. You made us feel as though you had a genuine interest in our case and calmly guided us through our first such tribunal, reducing our stress levels by some measure. We felt that you were a ‘safe pair of hands’, and the icing on the cake at the end of it all was that we won! I will not hesitate to recommend colleagues to you for advice and assistance.
